Making a crochet beanie

Making a crochet beanie

Here are step-by-step instructions on how to crochet a beanie adult size:

Materials needed:
- Crochet hook (appropriate size for your yarn)
- Yarn (suitable weight and color of your choice)
- Scissors
- Crafting sewing needle
Instructions:
1. Begin by making a slip knot. To do this, create a loop with the yarn, insert the crochet hook through the loop, catch the working yarn, and pull it through the loop. Pull the yarn tail to tighten the knot around the hook.
2. Make 53 chain stitches. To make a chain stitch, yarn over (wrap the yarn around the hook from back to front) and pull the yarn through the loop on the hook. Repeat this step until you have 53 chains.
3. Once you have 53 chains, turn your work clockwise so that the back side of the chains is facing you.
4. Insert the hook into the second chain from the hook. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the chain stitch and the loop on the hook, creating a slip stitch. This is the first slip stitch of the row.
5. Continue making slip stitches in each chain stitch across the row. You should end up with 50 slip stitches in total.
6. Turn your work again, so the back side of the slip stitches is facing you.
7. Chain one to start the next row. This chain one doesn't count as a stitch.
8. Insert the hook into the first slip stitch of the previous row. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the slip stitch and the loop on the hook, creating a slip stitch. Repeat this step for each slip stitch across the row.
9. Repeat Step 8 for a total of 24 rows. Each row should have 50 slip stitches.
10. After completing the 24th row, cut the yarn, leaving a tail of about 12 inches.
11. Remove the crochet hook from the loop, and thread the tail of the yarn through the crafting sewing needle.
12. Insert the needle through the top loop of each slip stitch in the last row. This will create a gathered effect at the top of the beanie.
13. Once you have gone through all the stitches, pull the yarn tightly to close the top of the beanie.
14. To secure the yarn, insert the needle through the center of the top of the beanie and weave it in and out of the stitches for a few inches.
15. Cut off any excess yarn and weave in the loose ends using the crafting sewing needle to hide them.
Congratulations! You have successfully crocheted a beanie.
